Black Book follows Vasilisa, a young woman who abandons her path toward becoming a witch to marry her beloved. After his mysterious death, she seeks a demonic book said to grant a wish to anyone who uncovers its seven seals. The journey brings her through a rural Slavic countryside shaped by folklore, where she confronts demons and performs exorcisms while helping ordinary people.
Its design combines card-based role-playing with adventure. Players collect spell cards and skills as they progress, then unleash spells against enemies; riddles and side quests add investigative detours to the journey. Vasilisa can also command a flock of demons, but the game gives that power a pointed complication: idle demons will torture her unless she finds them tasks. Folktales and an in-game encyclopedia, developed with expert anthropologists, deepen the setting beyond the central search for the seals.
Black Book is listed as a single-player game, so its player-count context is that of a solitary, story-led adventure rather than a shared multiplayer session. Its blend of tactical card play, folklore research, and consequential demon management gives the quest its distinct character.
