Bait Soul casts its player as a “Bait Soul” trying to escape a tragic destiny through a dangerous dungeon. Its cultivation-inspired action roguelite structure makes survival a matter of shaping a build as well as navigating threats. Mysterious events, secret rooms, merchants, altars, and gambles add detours where an opportunity may carry a risk.
The defining system links Soul Orbs, which occupy weapon slots and have their own attributes, with Support Items that pass chain buffs to adjacent weapons. Players can rearrange these pieces to favor heavy damage or sturdier defense. Combat keeps direct inputs focused: the character automatically attacks locked enemies, while the player handles blinking to evade lethal attacks and sprinting to reposition. Relics found in the dungeon can go beyond improving stats, changing combat mechanics and giving each run room for a different approach.
That combination of automatic attacks and movement-focused control shapes Bait Soul as a single-player experience centered on individual runs and build decisions, rather than a shared multiplayer session.
