Aven Colony is a single-player strategy and simulation game about establishing humanity’s first extrasolar settlement on Aven Prime. The planet’s varied biomes and hostile conditions shape the task: governors must build up small colonies into sprawling cities while keeping their citizens and infrastructure functioning. Its premise makes city-building a matter of adapting to an unfamiliar world, rather than simply expanding across a benign landscape.
Colony management is organized around twelve overlays covering concerns such as crops, happiness, crime, air, electricity, employment, and water. Construction drones build the structures that house colonists, and players can upgrade buildings, set up trading routes, and welcome immigrants. A day-and-night cycle and changing seasons add pressure to resource planning: winter freezes the planet, stopping farms from growing food and reducing solar power generation. Storms, toxic gas eruptions, and alien threats further define Aven Prime as an active challenge to settlement.
Alongside its city-building, the game offers a full single-player campaign that reveals secrets about the planet’s past. An expedition system sends pioneers to investigate ruins, recover artifacts, repair crashed vessels, and rescue lost explorers, with dangers including plague spores and robot guardians.
