In Atom Zombie Smasher, the apocalypse sets a clear priority: command mercenary forces and evacuate civilians before zombies reach them. Rather than framing the crisis as a lone survivor’s fight, the game presents it as a series of rescue operations, where planning how to protect and extract people is central to the premise.
Players can hire and upgrade specialists including snipers, demolition teams and orbital bombardment crews, then bring their different capabilities to bear on the danger. Fully destructible environments make the city itself part of the tactical picture: the game says players can blow up everything. Randomly generated cities and campaigns also give each playthrough a different layout and scenario, distinguishing the design from a fixed sequence of identical rescue maps.
The store lists both single-player and cooperative play, with up to three people able to team up. Its mercenary roster, destructible surroundings and generated campaigns define the particular challenge behind those sessions.
