Set three years after Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout, the story follows Ryza as she leaves Kurken Island for the royal capital, Ashra-am Baird. A letter from a friend points to ruins potentially connected to alchemy, while a mysterious request involving a glowing stone draws her into an adventure among the ruins and a meeting with a strange creature. The reunion with her friends and the search for a priceless treasure give this role-playing game its narrative frame.
Exploration is built around a broader set of field actions: Ryza can dive underwater, climb walls with plants, squeeze through narrow gaps, and use magic ropes to cross separated areas. These abilities make the ruins and surrounding locations more than scenery to traverse, tying movement directly to the game’s discovery-focused premise. Battles use a real-time tactics system, with character switching, skills, and item use offering several ways to respond as fights unfold.
Synthesis is another defining part of the design. Linkage Synthesis places materials in Material Loops, while Evolution Link combines created items into new ones. Its focus is on exploring, battling, and crafting within Ryza’s story, not on coordinating a group of players.
