Ars Notoria sets its survival-crafting loop in a fantasy kingdom threatened by the Enthralled. Its open world ranges from forests and fields to dungeons, frozen caverns, magical ruins, and bandit lairs, framing exploration as a journey through varied dangers. Players gather resources, build and improve a base, and face corrupted creatures in boss fights, giving the familiar work of survival a larger adventure setting.
Combat stands out through a combination of customizable magic and squad control. The game features six schools, including Frost, Chaos, and Holy; players can combine sigils and traits to shape spells, then switch between adventurers with different weapons and roles during battle. Outside combat, faction relationships add another layer of progression: members can be assigned to tasks such as guarding outposts, crafting equipment, or researching technologies, while faction questlines offer branching narratives shaped by player choices.
Ars Notoria supports single-player as well as online co-op, where friends can explore, take on story quests and dungeons, and build together. Base customization, automated settlement tasks, and magical or tamed companions round out an experience that blends exploration, management, and combat.
