Arma 3 Tools is not presented as a standalone action game, but as a suite for making content for Arma 3. Built for the Real Virtuality engine behind that game, it gives creators tools to shape worlds, prepare models and package data for use in the engine. The suite’s focus is hands-on production rather than a described campaign or multiplayer mode.
Terrain Builder lets users create virtual worlds from scratch, while Object Builder is for creating, editing and configuring 3D models made for Arma 3. Addon Builder converts data into formats the engine can read and gathers it into a single archive. For creators who want to distribute finished work, Publisher can publish complete mods to Steam Workshop. Samples of usage and work are available through the Arma 3 Samples application, providing examples alongside the creation tools.
The Game Updater addresses a different part of the workflow: switching between Steam branches of Arma 3, with the stated aim of avoiding additional downloads each time. This combination of world-building, asset preparation, packaging and publishing makes Arma 3 Tools a creator utility rather than a conventional player-facing game.
