Argo is a free, standalone tactical first-person shooter built as a total conversion of Arma 3. Its premise puts players in the role of mercenaries contracted by one of two rival factions, fighting across Malden, a Mediterranean island with urban districts, open plains, and varied combat zones. The game emphasizes careful, high-stakes engagements: its description warns that a single bullet can be decisive, making awareness and coordination central to its combat identity.
Its competitive modes give small units distinct objectives. Clash centers on battles for territory; Link asks teams to capture a connected series of points; and Raid splits attackers seeking a data terminal from defenders guarding possible locations. Beyond those PvP contests, Combat Patrol supports cooperative play against AI in an open-world setting. Randomized objectives and procedurally generated enemy forces make each patrol session different, while planning, teamwork, and adaptation are explicit parts of the challenge. Players can also build and play missions with the included Scenario Editor, placing entities, setting waypoints, and adding triggers.
Progression also gives its mercenary premise a longer arc, as operators gain experience to unlock weapons, attachments, and gear. Across its modes, the game pairs tactical combat with varied objectives and player-created scenarios.
