Anomaly Defenders closes the Anomaly series by reversing its central conflict: humans who once fought alien invaders are now attacking the aliens’ homeworld. You defend the planet as the alien side, turning the series’ Tower Offense premise into a fast-paced Tower Defense game. That change of perspective gives the campaign a clear purpose: hold off the human counterattack and protect the threatened world.
The attackers can damage and destroy your defenses, so placement alone is not enough. You must respond to pressure on the battlefield, using eight upgradeable towers alongside abilities to repair them, boost their power or detonate them against human forces. Towers can also redirect enemy movement, making path manipulation part of the defensive plan. A tech tree lets you tailor technologies to your needs each time you start a campaign, while three difficulty settings accommodate different levels of challenge.
The campaign spans twenty-four levels, including orbital stations and undiscovered lands, and the game is listed as single-player. Its distinctive appeal is the reversal of the series’ roles, combined with defenses that remain vulnerable and strategies that can change from campaign to campaign.
