Anomaly 2 recasts humanity as the apparent anomaly on a planet ruled by alien machines. In its post-apocalyptic setting, survivors travel through frozen tundra in convoys searching for food and supplies; the player commands the Yukon. This sequel builds on Anomaly Warzone Earth’s tower-offense concept, placing tactical planning and a battlefield Commander at the center of combat.
Squad composition is more than a matter of choosing units: troops can transform into war mechs, and each unit’s alternate form brings abilities suited to particular combat situations. Players can shape a battle squad from a large range of tactical combinations, then support its troops on the field. The campaign also offers alternative endings based on how the player approaches enemy machines, giving its strategy choices a narrative consequence.
Anomaly 2’s multiplayer gives the tower-offense idea a direct counterpart: one side commands the human forces while the other plays as the towers, setting defense against offense. A count can therefore reflect activity around a strategy game with different ways to play, rather than a single shared mode.
