Ambrosia follows Flode, an apprentice priestess whose peaceful life is disrupted by a scandal involving a duke’s family. Sent to the remote island of Cerbes, she is charged with tending an old shrine and spreading the faith of Leight. When a monster woman she has befriended is captured, Flode sets out to find legendary treasures, with help offered by Noir, the island’s old god. Her journey puts loyalty to her faith alongside the possibility of following another deity.
The island’s open-ended format lets players tackle dungeons in any order, although the game cautions that some are harder than others. Flode can speak with residents, gather clues, and take on quests; the examples include confronting a local bandit gang and finding rare aged cheese. These errands help address the shrine’s lack of money, while the broader exploration leads toward ancient relics scattered across Cerbes.
The combination of freely chosen dungeon order, local quests, shrine responsibilities, and Flode’s search for her captured friend gives this island journey its distinctive shape.
