Set fifteen years after the events of Alien, Alien: Isolation follows Amanda Ripley as she investigates the disappearance of her mother, Ellen. A recovered flight recorder draws Amanda to Sevastopol, a remote, decommissioned trading station where a deadly presence stalks the shadows. The mystery unfolds amid a population marked by panic and mistrust, giving the station a human tension alongside its central threat.
Survival depends on making do while underpowered and underprepared. Players scavenge resources, craft items and hack systems, choosing whether to evade enemies, distract them or confront them. The Alien is described as dynamic and reactive: it hunts using its senses and responds to the player’s movements. That design makes observation and improvisation central to the experience, rather than treating encounters as straightforward fights.
Alien: Isolation is a single-player survival-horror game, so its play format centers on Amanda’s solitary struggle through Sevastopol, not cooperative or competitive matches.
