AirportSim turns airport ground operations into the core of a detailed simulation. Rather than focusing on piloting, it asks players to guide aircraft into position, secure them, connect ground power, refuel, load luggage and coordinate services such as catering. Its tasks are described as developed around documented knowledge and interviews with airport ground-handling staff, giving the work a procedural focus.
The setting is built around recreated real-world airports, with layouts, parking positions, lines and gate numbers modeled to match their counterparts. Players can use aviation charts to navigate, while licensed aircraft and vehicles add operational detail: the listed planes have distinct connection points and ground procedures, and vehicles are designed with realistic physics, speed limits and functions. Weather also matters, with conditions mapped in real time alongside METAR data or selectable by the player.
AirportSim supports several ways to approach that work. Scenario mode sequences tasks around flight plans and predefined weather; Challenge mode tests players against a scoreboard; Free Play leaves the pace and activity to the player. Workshop integration is also described for creating or downloading aircraft skins and gameplay scenarios. The result is a simulation shaped by detailed service routines, with structured, competitive, relaxed and shared play options.
