Aircraft Carrier Survival puts players in command of a World War II aircraft carrier, its crew, officers and planes. The central challenge is not simply to attack: players must balance people, equipment and fleet resources while deciding whether a mission calls for a direct engagement, stealth or a route that avoids contact. That mix makes the game a strategy-focused portrayal of naval command rather than a straightforward aircraft-combat game.
Running the ship means assigning crew to stations and choosing what officers should prioritize. When the carrier comes under pressure, damage-control teams face competing emergencies such as fires, torpedo damage and flooding, and cannot address every threat at once. Players must judge what to tackle first, then combine maneuvers, aircraft and anti-aircraft turrets to survive attacks. The game also frames command as a matter of difficult choices, including whether to risk the wider crew to save someone in danger.
Reconnaissance provides intelligence for preparing pilots and aircraft for larger operations. Players can target land bases or fleets, identify opponents, and decide attack directions, target order and maneuvers.
