Age of History II is a grand strategy wargame built around a stark choice: unite the world through diplomacy or conquer it by force. Its campaign stretches from the dawn of civilization into the far future, asking players to guide a civilization across a sweeping historical timeline. The premise is broad, but the decisions are rooted in relations between competing civilizations and the shifting borders shown on a detailed world map.
Military tactics share the stage with a deeper diplomatic system, peace treaties and revolutions. Players can take control of civilizations ranging from large empires to small tribes, while editors offer ways to shape the experience: create maps, adjust provinces, design civilizations and build historical or alternate-history scenarios. End-game timelapses provide a view of how a campaign’s changing world has unfolded. These tools make customization part of the game’s distinctive appeal, alongside its central struggle for power.
The format also includes single-player and multiplayer, with a hotseat option that supports as many players as there are civilizations in a scenario.
