Agatha Christie - Murder on the Orient Express reimagines the celebrated locked-train murder mystery in 2023. A passenger is killed aboard the Orient Express, and Hercule Poirot must investigate a carriage full of distinctive suspects, each with secrets and motives. The journey is framed as a race against the clock, with twists that challenge players to work out what happened.
Investigation combines third-person exploration with conversations and puzzle-solving. Players inspect environments, question the people aboard, and use mind maps and timelines to organize evidence and make deductions. The game also introduces Joanna Locke, a private detective whose investigation unfolds in playable flashbacks set in the United States. Taking the roles of both detectives gives the adaptation a second investigative thread alongside Poirot’s case.
Rather than simply retelling the familiar story, this version places it in a contemporary setting and adds a new character and investigation to the classic mystery. Its appeal lies in piecing together conflicting accounts and clues through observation and deduction, while the original train-bound murder remains at the center. The game is single-player and supports controller play.
