Abyssus is a fast-paced first-person shooter set in a world powered by brine, a rare substance found in the deepest parts of the sea. A team of Brinehunters ventures beneath the ruins of an ancient civilization to claim a deposit, only to face the kingdom’s corrupted inhabitants. Its underwater setting gives the expedition a survival-horror edge, while the game’s hand-crafted environments and mysterious history frame the action.
The core is cooperative, tactical combat: players coordinate their positioning and choose complementary loadouts, skills, suits, and weapon modifications. Brine-powered guns can be customized with ancient technologies, while blessings add elemental or mystical effects. Runs follow a roguelite structure, with levels procedurally sequenced and upgrades and tactical options accumulating across attempts. The design pairs responsive shooting with team decisions about how to build and support each character, rather than relying on firepower alone.
Enemies include mutated guardians, alongside bosses that test players’ combat coordination. Its blend of underwater exploration, customizable weapons, and repeatable roguelite runs gives the shooter a distinct brinepunk identity.
