Football Manager 2024 puts you in charge of a football club, asking you to shape a team and guide it towards your ambitions. The career can begin with a bottom-up rebuild or a pursuit of immediate success, and the J. League licence adds J1, J2 and J3 as places to manage. Players returning from the previous game can also import an existing Football Manager 2023 career, carrying an established story into this edition.
The work is managerial rather than hands-on play: devise a tactical approach, recruit through the transfer market and develop players through training. Matchdays show that planning in action, with improvements to ball and player movement. Set pieces have their own creation tools and dedicated coaches, while the Inverted Full-Back role and player rotations offer further tactical choices. Individual targets let managers challenge players on measures such as seasonal goals or training performances.
Career options give that club-building premise different starting conditions. Real World reflects when players actually joined a club; Your World sets squads and budgets at the career’s start date, allowing a different transfer-window setup. International management is also available, with a revamped National Pool for assessing talent.
